Taekwondo Summer Camps: More Than Just a Camp

Kids Are Sitting on Ground on Their Summer Camp Sessions

Kids’ summer camps shouldn’t just be an activity to keep kids busy during the summer (although they are, and that can be a big relief to parents). Instead, we believe that summer camps should be more than just somewhere kids go; they should make an impact on kids and help in their development. That’s why we’ve designed thoughtful martial arts summer camps in Milton that offer more than just things to keep kids busy and more than just taekwondo.

Self Defense and Weapons

Every parent hopes that their child will never be in the position where they need to physically defend themselves, but whether they do as a child or adult, it may happen. It’s better to be prepared for this and have the skills to protect yourself rather than to be caught off guard. Very few summer camps can boast that they teach such an essential skill as self-defense.

Physical Skills and Health

Of course, practicing taekwondo is much more likely to benefit a child’s physical health than to help them ward off an attack. Martial arts summer camps can help children of all ages develop their physical skills, including coordination, balance, flexibility, and strength. More importantly, it teaches them to feel connected to and in control of their body, a skill that helps them move confidently in any area they pursue in life.

Socialization and Emotional Growth

Summer camps should not be the scene of bullying or coddling. We create an atmosphere of respect and independence at our summer camp, where kids get the opportunity to socialize with new peers and grow emotionally and as a person. Children need opportunities to make new friends outside of school and participate in new peer groups that can present new challenges and teach them new things.

More Than Martial Arts

Many summer camps place too much emphasis on their main activity and don’t give children the diverse experiences that make other camps so great. At Dragon Taekwondo, we include in our summer camp program trips to other enriching places to do other activities. This includes:

  • Rock climbing
  • Gymnastics
  • Ninja Course
  • Arts and crafts
  • Outdoor games
  • Nerf Wars
  • Weapons Training
  • Interactive Virtual Games
  • And more
